Miraath Guide is an educational calculation aid based on the implemented Hanafi methodology. Complex cases, disputed facts, local law, estate ownership, debts, bequests, missing persons, unborn heirs, and other special circumstances should be reviewed by a qualified scholar and relevant legal professional.
DISCLAIMER
Please read before you rely on a result
This is not a fatwa
Miraath Guide does not issue a fatwa and is not a substitute for one. It applies a documented set of Hanafi inheritance rules (see Methodology) to the family facts you enter, and shows its working. Any result should be treated as a starting point for a conversation with a qualified scholar, not a final legal or religious ruling.
Scholarly review status
The calculation engine has been built and tested against a set of reference-implementation fixtures cross-checked with classical worked examples. These fixtures are marked "reference-implementation verified, scholarly review pending" throughout the codebase and this site - we do not claim formal scholarly approval unless actual reviewers have approved the implementation.
Known limitations
- Grandmother eligibility is simplified to a confirmed count rather than modelling every line of descent.
- Paternal half-sisters do not act as asabah ma'a al-ghayr alongside daughters in this MVP (a rare case).
- Distant kindred (dhawil al-arham) are not distributed; any such surplus is labelled but not divided.
- Estate deductions - debts, funeral expenses, and bequests - are not calculated; enter the net distributable estate yourself.
- Only the Hanafi school is modelled in this MVP.
